A good point, considering Nintendo folks are greedy enough to milk a franchise dry by launching useless Mario games, on and on!

Agreed some of them are really good. But this attitude of earning a quick buck out of a trend is bad.
Doom RPG...is a good concept, although execution is not so good.Especially the lining up of barells part to kill enemies. Gets repetitive I say.

Ah,very Interesting. But there are also games that go to different genres just as a way to increase their reach, which aren't so good.

Like you see a plethora of Mario Titles, like Soccer,Tennis,Party etc.. these come under what you are talking about but are fine examples of how these things are used as easy means for some extra income.

You also have games like MGAcid, and KH CoM both of which are card based games , completely different, MGAcid has a completely different parallel universe too!

It is a trend which has been going since a long time though, just like how a transition from 2D - 3D for many games changed the way we play modern games, with SM64 having a completely 3D world which was indeed a great example of how trends had shifted for ultra colorful 2D worlds to 3D.

Oh and there was some Doom RPG for cell Phones right? I wonder how that thing was :P
